We are seeking dedicated employees for the following positions:

Part-time Library Assistant

To help local community readers in the use of library catalogs, databases, and indexes to locate books and other materials; and by answering questions that require only brief consultation and assisting with standard references. Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in maintaining and supporting a public library, and has a good understanding of library systems.

Requirements Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Compile records; sort and shelve books or other media; remove or repair damaged books or other media; register patrons; and check materials in and out of the circulation process. Replace materials in shelving area (stacks) or files. • Assists with the daily tasks of the library such as issuing new library cards, checking out library materials, receiving returns, shelving and shelf reading, collecting payment for late charges or printing and faxing services. • Processes, prepares, repairs and catalogues library materials. • Shelves library materials. • Processes applications for library cards; notifies patrons of overdue materials; and collects fines • Assists patrons in the use of electronic databases and library computers. • Provides light reference duties and assists patrons in the use of electronic resources. • Aids in the use of public computers and patron owned personal devices when applicable. • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with library guidelines. • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications: • Associate degree with three (3) years of experience in a library environment or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Ability to work flexible schedule including shift changes, weekends and evenings when necessary. • Valid Texas Driver’s License. • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of basic library reference materials and procedures. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. • Skills in operating a computer and standard office equipment. • Ability to work well with adults and children. • Ability to train library volunteers.

Additional Information: WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of SALARY: • $14,000 - $16,500 per year, depending on experience.

Director of Development Services:

This position plans, directs and manages all activities and operations of the department.  This is accomplished by directing employee functions and tasks; presenting and administering all budget activities; serving as the chief spokesperson and representative of the department; analyzing operations; providing consultation and recommendation to management, elected officials, boards and commissions; and furthering the objectives of management and elected officials. Other duties include establishing and enforcing internal controls and processes.  

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Interpret, assess, and ensure compliance with the Unified Development Code, Engineering Manual, Comprehensive Plan, and other applicable state, county and local ordinances and regulations to provide thorough, detail-oriented plan reviews of complex land use applications including annexation, zoning, platting, site development and other land development applications. Prepare research and reporting as needed related to land use, growth, demographics, population, transportation, environment, grants, and other planning and development studies consistent with community goals. Utilize GIS mapping and other software management products as applicable . Writes correspondence and reports; prepares administrative determinations/code interpretations. Present reports and findings to City staff, Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment and Appeals, City Council, and other groups; facilitate organized meetings including notices of public hearing, agenda reports, and computer set-up for public meetings as needed.

Confer with applicants, consultants, and developers in discussing more complex development applications to identify and resolve issues related to specific projects. Coordinate communications between City Engineer and applicant for review comments and provide recommendations on how to address review comments.

Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.

Additional Information:\ PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sedentary work; ability to lift/exert up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally. Work in an office setting with visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting and standing to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.  Occasional exposure to outdoor elements for site inspections with staff.

Salary 85,000 – 95,000 Depending on Experience

PUBLIC WORKS MAINT. TECH-II

Performs a variety of manual labor tasks related to the maintenance and repair of city streets, drainage systems, rights-of-ways, parks, buildings, and other facilities and must be able to operate a wide variety of hand and power tools and other light to heavy equipment.

Performs general labor using hand and power tools; performs minor construction work to maintain City buildings and grounds including scraping, painting, picking up brush and trash, cleaning, changing A/C filters, and general other duties as become necessary.

Operates light equipment associated with the maintenance and repair of the roadway system including shoulders and sidewalks; clears drainage systems, maintains right-of-ways by mowing and vegetation control, assists with sign installation and maintenance of park areas.

Performs routine maintenance and minor mechanical adjustments and repairs of equipment; maintains and cleans vehicles and shop area.

Must be able to work overtime as required to complete assigned tasks; may periodically move furniture in City Hall or other City facilities; assist with Code enforcement of garbage, brush, trees, etc.

Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED

Appropriate Texas driver’s license with good driving record.

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

$17.00 per hour
